Standard &amp; Poor's Ratings is organized into business units that align with the issuer communities they serve, Corporate &amp; Government Ratings (includes Infrastructure Finance, Municipal Finance and Financial Institutions Ratings - (Banks, Insurance Companies and Investment Dealers). This enhances analysts' knowledge of their issuers and keeps them in constant contact with other analysts following similar issuers. It also ensures that issuers receive expert credit evaluation by analysts who fully understand the issuer's business and operating environment.

Throughout the 12-week program, summer associates will be offered the opportunity to assist Standard &amp; Poor's in achieving its mission of being one of the leading providers of the highest quality risk evaluations and analytical information to the world's financial markets. Summer Associates will learn how to analyze credit, cash flows, and/or the legalities of structured finance. They will have the opportunity to participate in and present their analysis to Rating Committees. When appropriate, they will attend issuer management meetings and due diligence meetings. In addition, summer associates will participate in a formal speaker series program conducted by Standard &amp; Poor's senior management. 

Qualification include the following:

* Completed the first-year of an advanced degree program in finance, public policy or public administration by May 2012 
* Three years of relevant work experience in finance or relevant industry
* Intellectual Curiosity
* Strong problem-solving skills
* Credit training experience is a plus
* Proficiency in financial statement analysis
* Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to influence constituencies
* The ability and the desire to publish your analysis and research
* The ability to work in a deal-driven, collaborative work environment is required.
* Permanent work authorization for the United States in required.
