Responsibilities:

* Direct and train image staff regarding procedures, standards, and approved work methods.
* Manage and support the input and reuse of images and metadata into content management systems.
* Support the concurrent development of multi-media product through strategic planning and coordination of images
* Maintain current understanding of trends and advances in technology related to images, research and image management
* Work with Design Director to define and create program specific image procedures and guidelines as well as balance workloads of staff, setting priorities based on project needs.
* Manage staff of Image Specialists and monitor outside vendors
* Identify staff and outside resource needs for specific programs/projects.
* Provide financial and statistical image data for program budgets, contracts and forecasting, as requested.
* Oversee negotiation with illustrators/reps and image suppliers 
* Ensures cost-effective selection of images and budget goals are met
* Communicate and interact regularly with the entire product development team to maintain an understanding of publishing plan needs, issues, and budgets.
* Evaluate performance of staff and write performance appraisals. 


Required:
* Bachelors from an accredited four-year college specializing in graphic design/fine art, advertising, broadcast media or graduate of an art school or equivalent work experience.
* Minimum 5 years of publishing/image management experience, including a solid understanding of image, design, production and editorial roles and relationships.
* Experience managing concurrent development of multiple product lines and components.
* Experience leading a team and working collaboratively across functional areas and sites.
* Working knowledge of current publishing systems and processes.
* Thorough understanding of prepress, design, image, and file preparation and management.
* Strong communication, organizational and presentation skills.

Responsibilities:
* Work as a team player; communicate with fellow team members about project progress, and develop solutions to address issues to meet development schedules and due dates.
* Write letters, organize materials, track projects, develop project spreadsheets, and compile correlations to Common Core State Standards and other state-specific standards.
* Review and check accuracy of various technology and print math education products

* Must be detail oriented with excellent grammar skills; must be able to write and/or edit a variety of materials in a variety of formats in a timely manner.
* Must be enrolled in an accredited College or University with a sophomore status or above.
* Must be a Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or related major.
* Ability to demonstrate outstanding communication skills which include a thorough command of the English language, spelling, writing and grammar. 
* Proficiency in computer skills including: Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Adobe Acrobat/Reader.
* Ability to work as a team member in a fast-paced environment.

We currently have an immediate opening for a Mathematics Editor to work on a contractual basis within our downtown Chicago office. This person will be an employee of McGraw-Hill Education and will recieve full-time benefits.

Responsibilities:
* Edit manuscript and/or storyboards, both hard copy and electronic versions, for mathematical content, accuracy, reading level, grammar, style, and length for pedagogical and grade-level appropriateness.
* Assist in the planning and development of instructional materials, such as textbooks, workbooks, and other print and electronic ancillary materials for our programs.
* Assist in the development of project schedules, and maintain and meet all intermediate and final schedules; inform project editor or editorial manager if circumstances prevent meeting deadlines.
* Identify problem areas in content and recommend solutions. 
* Coordinate and oversee the work of freelancers and vendors who provide supplemental editorial assistance.
* Work closely with marketing, production, design, and manufacturing to ensure that market requirements, project schedules, and goals are met.
* Create and check correlations of mathematics content to Common Core State Standards and to state-specific standards.
* Communicate with team members regarding project progress and develop solutions to address issues.
* Work as a team player to meet all intermediate and final schedules.
Required:
* Bachelor's degree.
* A minimum of two years of publishing or teaching experience, elementary math teaching/editing experience preferred.
* Ability to demonstrate outstanding communication skills which include a thorough command of the English language, spelling, writing and grammar. 
* Organizational, and time management proficiencies are also a must. 
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required. 
* Ability to work as a team member in a fast-paced environment.
