Title: Director, Creative Services & Content Licensing

MMHE-EDP has an opportunity for a Director of Creative Services and Content Licensing . The Director will provide operational oversight to the Creative Services department consisting of Designers, Permissions Specialists, and Digital Library staff. This position can be located in Burr Ridge , IL or Dubuque, IA.
Essential Accountabilities:
* Builds and directly supervises a dynamic team of creative professionals, responsible for art, photo, design and third party digital content for print and digital products. Responsible for schedule, costs and quality of all work assigned to the team. The Director will develop and implement critical productivity and cost management targets to measure and manage performance.
* Accountable for leading the direct purchasing of quality images appropriate for the Digital Image Library (DAL). Accountable for rights management, meta-tagging expectations, and uploading processes. Collaborate with MH team on business requirements specific to DAL. Be an expert on all rights management requirements, and develop expertise across entire creative services team.
* Build alliances and relationships with suppliers and GPMS (freelance illustrators, art houses, photo research and digital asset resources) to ensure timely, cost-effective, and the highest quality of all programs. Increase the resource pool to include expertise specific to instructional design, animation design, eBook design and other competencies related to digital design expectations.
* Collaborate and partner with product teams and market development on cross purposing design elements, branding, etc. to bring more consistency to product package; both print and digital.
* Monitor the storage, file creation, and archiving of all visual and design programs. Develop new processes for re-use and sharing of design templates.
* Bachelor's Degree
* 7 years as a manager of a creative department or equivalent, preferably with college textbooks and digital eBooks. Instructional design expertise a plus.
* Demonstrated experience with rights management of 3rdparty content
* Demonstrated and proven ability to lead people and get results through others.
* A proven record of assisting others to achieve excellence through coaching, training and mentoring.
* Must be able to think strategically, negotiate and influence effectively, and understand complex technical issues and be able to translate and communicate them clearly to less technical personnel.
* Requires a high level of diplomacy and excellent problem solving and decision making skills with the ability to analyze alternate solutions quickly.
* Excellent team player with a strong background in collaborating successfully with internal and external partners to bring about successful execution of goals.
* Ability to make effective decisions on projects in a consistent and independent fashion; use good judgment in determining which decisions require immediate action and which ones need team input or further consideration.
* Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities and deadlines while ensuring consistent forward progress on projects.
* Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Up-to-date skills with design applications such as InDesign. Expertise in ePub a plus.
