Title: Data Associate, Quality & Compliance Reporting
Location: US-NY-New York
Standard & Poor's Data Strategy & Operations (DSO) group is currently seeking to hire a Data Associate within the Data Quality team with focus oncompliance & risk metrics. The DSO group leverages data management best practice to improve the sophistication of S&P's analytical & data capabilities in areas such as surveillance, quantitative analysis, product development and risk management. Within and across each of the Data Strategy & Operations pillars are global teams of people with expertise in data management who work together to make data and information efficiently available for analytical activities and for new products and services, and work closely with IT to build and maintain critical database systems utilizing S&P-wide technology and architecture standards.

The Data Assurance team, in close cooperation with th other areas of the Data Strategy & Operations team, helps support and delivers on the S&P Ratings business objectives around Information Data Assurance and Quality. The team's objectives have been recently enhanced to provide strategy and execution aorund Information Quality in support of the changes in laws and regulations globally in alignment with compliance initiatives around Quality, Criteria, Compliance, and Risk. Selected individual will work closely with members of Ratings Analytical and Operations and Information Technology teams to understand business requirements for data quality.

Essential Accountabilities:
* Work with the heads of the business units and other project stakeholders to define data quality requirements; understand their data reporting issues and partner with them to achieve higher data quality and enhanced efficiency.
* Deliver tactical and strategic recommendations for the execution of necessary data activities with a concentrated focus on compliance and enterprise-wide acceptable solutions.
* Assess and map processes and provide/implement recommendations to improve data quality.
* Recommend solutions and procedures to the business to achieve high quality data and take into consideration other systems/software utilized for other purposes.
* Provide training on data quality tasks and strategies to data users. This may include assisting the development of the technical documentation used.
In addition:
* Work with project teams to ensure they have an understanding of the data development lifecycle and the value it delivers
* Facilitate the sharing of experiences and ideas of good data management practices across data teams throughout S&P including data practices within the business unit themselves
* Bachelors Degree
* Five or more years experience in a data operations role, of which at least three years should be in financial data quality.
* SQL database knowledge (SQL queries)
* Capital Markets knowledge
* Advanced multi-tasking skills
* Advanced time management skills
* Ability to work on international team and manage offshore and outsource resources.
* Ability to work closely with project teams of 10 individuals from different disciplines (IT, Project Management) across S&P's businesses.
* Experience in a compliance or regulatory function is highly desirable
