The Risk Solutions unit of Standard & Poor's Capital IQ is a leading provider of risk management solutions used by leading global financial institutions for Basel compliance and implementation of risk management best practices. Driven by customer demand, our team is building the next generation of risk management solutions for the financial institutions market. We are developing analytic and workflow software solutions that will host and support leading-edge risk management models and processes.
We are seeking experienced and highly motivated a Senior Software Engineer for our development team to enable us to deliver these solutions in a dynamic and highly interactive team environment using leading-edge tools. The individual in this position will have responsibility for interacting with clients and working within the integrated business management and product engineering team to analyze, design and develop risk management software. As a leader on our team, an individual in this position will play a key role in the design and delivery of the software solutions. The position will report to the business unit's Development Director.
The successful candidate will bring a product engineering approach, backed by industry experience that reflects full systems lifecycle experience on complex financial/capital markets systems.
Qualifications Required:
* 6-8 years demonstrated hands-on development of large scale systems within a business application domain. Candidate should have made technical contributions that represents a clear level of new development expertise in the application domain
* Strong object oriented design and programming skills in J2EE development
* Fundamental proficiency in concurrent programming, design patterns, computer algorithms, and complex data structures
* Strong proficiency in web-based open source development on a Windows and Linux platform using tools and frameworks such as Eclipse, Spring, Subversion (SVN), Maven, JUnit, JBoss, etc.
* Proficient in SOA design and web services development using axis2, SOAP, XML
* 3 years in database development and query performance/tuning using Oracle PL/SQL programming
* Excellent analytical problem-solving, interpersonal, written and verbal communications, and organizational skills
* Results-oriented approach in delivery of commitments without compromising quality
* Desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment and to stay hands-on technical
* Strong documentation discipline for all SDLC artifacts - technical requirements, functional specifications and detailed design using UML
Education Required:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science is required, or in lieu, a demonstrated equivalence in work experience
* MS in Computer Science highly desirable
Additional Preferred:
* Strong financial knowledge in fixed income and/or credit instruments
* Understanding of credit risk management
* Exposure to structured SDLC methodologies such as RUP and agile development methodologies
