The Utilities and Infrastructure unit of Standard &amp; Poor's Corporate &amp; Government Ratings division is focused on assigning new ratings and providing surveillance for investor-owned utilities, energy transportation and storage entities, project-financed entities, and public/private infrastructure partnerships that issue public and/or private debt.
This unit is actively recruiting an Associate to analyze and evaluate the credit quality of investor-owned utilities. You will be responsible for preparing internal credit reports for rating committees. This will include business risk evaluation and cash flow and financial statement analysis, as well as review of proposed financial structures and credit documentation. This role also entails meeting with debt issuers, investors, intermediaries and the media. Additional responsibilities include preparing for publication full credit reports, interim reviews, and industry commentary on ratings and industry trends.

Partner with other shared services teams (IT, Project Management, Product Managment, Analytical groups), and be able to lead cross-functional teams to execute on Project deliverables and milestones. Present the pillars of Data Strategy &amp; Operations and provide data requirements, which includes extensive involvement int he design and testing of systems and capabilities required to manage data in a scalable manner.

Work with the Customer Support function of S&amp;P to ensure Data Oeprations responds to Customer Queries, and troubleshoot as needed when there are issues. In addition, making Data Operations staff available to engage SMEs in pre-sales support activities.

Perform management related tasks such as communication to the leadership and the organization on the success, challenges and breakthroughs of the data operations teams, the staff's performance management, staff meetings, monitoring and recruiting.

Ensure teams deliver productivity improvements by effectively organizing teams using new technologies and using appropriate location strategies.

Represent S&amp;P to external parties and speak at industry conferences.
The selected individual will possess the leadership qualities necessary to manage process and people.  In addition:

* Work with finance departments to lead and coordinate annual and interim budget process for forecasted and actual costs for 3rd party services used throughout the business units and distributed via S&amp;P’s various products and services. Collaborate on and execute workflow for invoice reconciliation and payment processing and work with finance departments to provide regular reporting and assistance. Proactively identify opportunities for cost savings.
* Reviewing contracts and summarizing their terms in a central database system along with finance terms and entitlement details.
* Contribute to, guide and support the contract renewal process globally for CASA including informing applicable CASA team members on timing for re-negotiation and re-evaluation of existing contracts worth approximately $40 million to $75 million
* Own subscription and change management process and tracking across the company - including, user ID’s, passwords, costs, reviewing usage reports, etc. for internal users of various applications and subscriptions.
* Maintain information and documentation regarding CASA Market Data Administration policies, procedures, events, vendor, market and internal information on CASA group’s intranet site.

The Senior Specialist (Software) position is designed to carry out the principal function of Equity Research analytical duties with a heavy institutional servicing component. Analyst duties will include coverage of 15-18 stocks in the software industry, and servicing that will include frequent client interaction in the form of morning calls, event presentations, client sales force teach-ins, and escorting sophisticated buy-side investors to covered companies. The position requires 7 years in an equity research environment, including in-depth knowledge in a subject industry, and strong experience with servicing institutional client needs.

Essential Accountability
* Monitor STARS stock selection recommendations and produce research commentary on covered list of 15-18 companies. Complete fundamental analysis and valuation assessments, stock recommendations, publishing company reports and thematic research. Keep informed of news and developments affecting companies and industries, earnings estimate revisions, target price, and recommendation when news impacts company, industry or sub-industry. 
* Construct and maintain financial models to support valuations and Buy/Hold/Sell recommendations. Ensure that the recommendations and valuations are based on adequate and appropriate information that adhere to defined parameters and demonstrate professional judgment. Fully responsible for communicating individual stock and sub-industry views internally with the strategy group to develop sector strategies and externally to sophisticated institutional clients and the media including print, television, radio and internal broadcasts.
* Interface with the institutional sales group of our clients to present morning call commentary and teach-ins of industry dynamics for the purpose of communicating recommendations and industry themes to sophisticated asset managers. Assist and support organization of lead buy-side investors on field trips to covered company facilities for meetings with company management, relying on management relationships.
* Ensure proactive and reactive response to analytical inquiries from sophisticated customers in a timely manner using technical/professional knowledge.
Requirements:      
* Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent financial/accounting knowledge, CFA or MBA required.
* 7 years working within a sell-side equity research environment while interfacing with sales teams.
* Good knowledge of economic and market fundamentals.
* Solid foundation of Equity Research analytical process to include valuation methods, due diligence, and industry trends and drivers, including 8 years in a specific industry.
* Ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally with clients and the media.
* Excellent analytical, written and communication skills.
* Work both independently and interactively with other team members under tight deadlines.
* Deliver customer focus, quality awareness, and technical/professional knowledge.

The team's objectives have been recently enhanced to provide strategy and execution aorund Information Quality in support of the changes in laws and regulations globally in alignment with compliance initiatives around Quality, Criteria, Compliance, and Risk. Selected individual will work closely with members of Ratings Analytical and Operations and Information Technology teams to understand business requirements for data quality.

Essential Accountabilities:
* Work with the heads of the business units and other project stakeholders to define data quality requirements; understand their data reporting issues and partner with them to achieve higher data quality and enhanced efficiency.
* Deliver tactical and strategic recommendations for the execution of necessary data activities with a concentrated focus on compliance and enterprise-wide acceptable solutions.  
* Assess and map processes and provide/implement recommendations to improve data quality.
* Recommend solutions and procedures to the business to achieve high quality data and take into consideration other systems/software utilized for other purposes.
* Provide training on data quality tasks and strategies to data users. This may include assisting the development of the technical documentation used.
In addition:
* Work with project teams to ensure they have an understanding of the data development lifecycle and the value it delivers
* Facilitate the sharing of experiences and ideas of good data management practices across data teams throughout S&amp;P including data practices within the business unit themselves
* Bachelors Degree
* Five or more years experience in a data operations role, of which at least three years should be in financial data quality.
* SQL database knowledge (SQL queries)
* Capital Markets knowledge
* Advanced multi-tasking skills
* Advanced time management skills
* Ability to work on international team and manage offshore and outsource resources.

* Credit training experience is a plus
* Proficiency in financial statement analysis
* Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to influence constituencies
* The ability and the desire to publish your analysis and research
* The ability to work in a deal-driven, collaborative work environment is required.
* Permanent work authorization for the United States in required.
